IRAQ-US-MOSUL-CAR BOMB-EXPLOSION

A large fireball appears one block away as a consequence of a car bomb found and detonated by U.S. troops, in the northern city of Mosul, 370km from Baghdad, 08 January 2005. U.S. troops from the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment found a ready-to-use car bomb and a large weapons cache hidden in a building, including artillery shells, land mines, rocket-propelled grenade, improvised explosive devices, AK-47 rifles and few new motorcycles. In another incident, two Iraqi insurgents were killed after both of them blew up a roadside bomb and ran away. U.S. troops opened fire, killed them and nobody was injured after the large explosion targeted one of a six Styker vehicle convoy.
