Josh Lafair inventor of a Gerrymandering Game

WASHINGTON,DC-MAR26: Seventeen-year-old Josh Lafair speaks during a rally at the Supreme Court during the gerrymandering cases Lamone v. Benisek and Rucho v. Common Cause. Josh grew up in Texas's District 10, an exceptionally gerrymandered area that somehow manages to pack voters from two different major cities (Austin and Houston) into the same Congressional district. Lafair thought it was important to start conversations about the effects of gerrymandering, so he channeled this political activism into a game about gerrymandering called Mapmaker: The Gerrymandering Game. This July, he launched a Kickstarter to fund production of the game, and within six hours it met its goal. In the game, players take on the role of a fictional political party and attempt neutralize their opponents' voters by gerrymandering them into lopsided and unfair districts on a hexagonal map.(Photo by Evelyn Hockstein/For The Washington Post via Getty Images)
