Commencing most commonly from Lukla Airport (or traditionally from Jiri) it is a long and arduous trek taking around 12-16 days all at high altitude. The end point is Everest Base Camp (South side) which is used during the climbing season (May and October) as the main camp of the climbing expeditions to Mt Everest. The Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass variation is a popular one, it takes in the lakes in the Gokyo Valley and continues through the Cho La Pass before rejoining the Everest Base Camp trail.
