Clive Davis founded Arista Records in 1975, where he signed and launched the superstar careers of Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, and Alicia Keys, amongst others, and reinvigorated the careers of music legends like Aretha Franklin, The Grateful Dead, and Lou Reed throughout the 1970s and 1980s. From 1967 through 1973, Clive Davis was president of Columbia Records, where he signed and launched music legends like Janis Joplin, Laura Nyro, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Santana, Aerosmith, and Earth, Wind, and Fire. In the 1990s, Davis, with L.A. Reid and Babyface, founded LeFace Records (TLC, Usher, Pink) and, with Sean 'Puffy" Combs, Bad Boy Records (Notorious B.I.G., Mase, Faith Evans).
