Saint Mary's College Stages Mock Immigration Checkpoint On Campus

Students and faculty at Saint Mary's College staged a surprise checkpoint simulation dubbed "Your Papers Please" to raise awareness of the complicated bureaucratic process and procedures involved in current US border patrol policies and bring attention to strict immigration policies enacted in states across the nation, such as Arizona's bill SB 1070 and Georgia bills HB 87 and SB 458. The unannounced checkpoint took place during lunch time and required students, faculty, staff and visitors to present a valid School ID card or they would not be allowed to take a direct path across the College's Chapel plaza.
