B-52 heads for Yugoslavia

A B-52H Stratofortress of the 2nd Air Expeditionary Group, Royal Air Force Fairford, England, heads toward a target in Kosovo during a NATO Operation Allied Force Combat Penetration mission. The aircraft carries a large amount of iron bombs, some of which are visable hanging under the starboard wind. The 2nd AEG is made up of B-52H aircraft and crews from the 2nd Bomb Wing and 5th Bomb Wings. The 2nd BW is home based at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., while the 5th BW is based at Minot AFB, N.D. Crews from the 2nd BW come from the 11th Bomb Squadron, the 20th BS, the 96th BS, and the 2nd Operations Support Squadron. Crews from the 5th BW come from the 23rd Bomb Squadron. (photo by Greg L.
