Aerial view of Eyup Sultan mosque with mahya lights during a winter sunset in Istanbul. Mahya lights is a 450-year-old Ottoman tradition which consists in installing light messages between the minarets of certain imperial mosques in Istanbul, Edirne and Bursa, during the holy month of ramadan.
Eyup Sultan mosque was built in the 15th century. It is surrounded by a cemetery and sits at the foot of Pierre Loti hill, which offers sweeping views of the Golden Horn.
