Students continue demonstrations in wake of Kent State shootings; USA: New York: Columbia University: EXT Vox pop SOT, ITN reporter in shots Q: a lot of people on campus is a strike a good idea? A: no I don't / feel like policy should not be made in the streets / there are elected officials President Nixon and Vice President Agnew / senate and congress / more than capable of making these policies / elected by the American people for this purpose / the strike - university's function is to teach students, and the students to attend classes and study Q: presumably your colleagues on campus would say that that's being weak kneed and buckling under.. A: They're not my colleagues / these aren't my friends not my associates Q: But you're a student on campus? A: right but on two different sides of the ideological spectrum / once the students feel that they are correct in shutting down universities and taking drastic measures such as these to change policy the Pandora's box will be open / lots more violence - destruction will follow!
